Preston Reid was set up in 1992 with the aim of providing highly personalized, quality tailor made holidays throughout the countries of Southern Africa and Latin America.

Though the style of our holidays has changed little and the standard of service we offer has remained high, much has changed in these vast continents, both socially and politically, since the business was formed.

In South Africa, following the collapse of apartheid, the ‘rainbow nation’ has emerged as a year round destination, whether to the Cape Region as a short winter break, or a more extensive visit to take in the battlefields of Kwa-Zulu Natal and experience some of the fantastic game viewing opportunities in and around the Kruger National Park. The explorer David Livingstone wrote on first seeing Victoria Falls, “views so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight” – not only are the Falls a must for all first time visitors, their geographic position allows easy access to all the countries of Southern Africa. Zambia possesses an almost unparalleled variety of safari options from walking in the South Luangwa to canoeing on the Lower Zambezi. Botswana is one of the last truly unspoilt areas of Africa, with its unique signature destinations, the alluring Kalahari Desert and the seasonally flooded Okavango Delta. In sharp contrast Namibia is a haunting land of sand dunes, shipwrecks and ancient tribes such as the Himba. While turbulence and political unrest has dogged Zimbabwe, the opposite is true in Mozambique, now recognised as one of the world’s outstanding beach destinations, with a number of high quality lodges and hotels.

These days, taken as a whole, the continent of South America can rarely, if ever, have seemed so stable. Gone are the military regimes that characterized virtually every country - in their place civilian rules has returned. South America is probably the most diverse continent on the planet, with something to satisfy every discerning traveller. The colonial legacy, epitomised by the enduring architecture left by both the Spanish and Portuguese, blends uniquely with that of ‘lost’ Indian civilizations in equally ‘lost’ cities such as Machu Picchu and Ciudad Perdida. The Amazon is the world’s largest river system, spilling tributaries into six countries, and the Andes form a spectacular backbone, taking in as many countries, and offering some of the most stunning scenery along their length and breadth. The continent’s coastline seems endless, particularly in Brazil with almost 6,000 miles of it, including vast tracks of unspoilt beaches, and the cosmopolitan cities of Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires are worthy of visiting as stand alone destinations.

The standard of a Preston Reid tailor made holiday remains as high as ever with the attention to detail being paramount. But our clients now have the benefit of our wealth of experience and knowledge, which we have built up over the years. Whilst we continue to offer a diversity of services to both of these vast areas, from wedding ceremonies on remote South African beaches to horseback treks across the Andes, we have expanded our repertoire to include a variety of sporting tours, including golf holidays to South Africa and Argentina, tennis and rugby supporters’ tours and cricket tours to Argentina, South Africa and Guyana.

We look forward to using our wealth of first hand experience in helping you to plan the trip of your choice, whether you are looking for a high quality, personalised holiday just for you or are a club seeking a well planned and tailored sporting tour.
