The Mediterranean climate of the Cape Province makes the area ideal to visit between August and April.  Best time of year for game viewing is during the winter months when vegetation cover is at a minimum and a lack of water forces animals to congregate around rivers and waterholes.  Whales can be spotted between July and November, one of two peak periods, the other being Christmas / New Year.
